Successful promotion of e-services underscored for transparency

GAIBANDHA, Jun 23 (BSS): Speakers in a function here on Monday stressed the need for successful promotion of e-services in all the government offices to ensure transparency and accountability.
"In line with the modern world all the civil service offices should be transformed into e-services to help the people avail their need base services promptly and without any hassle", they said.
They made the comments while addressing a press briefing on Public Service Week and National Web Portal affairs at the conference room of deputy commissioner (DC) office here this morning.
District Information Office (DIO) organized the function in cooperation with Access to Information (A2I) programme of Prime Minister office and district administration.
DC Ehsan-e-Elahi addressed the function as the chief guest while additional deputy commissioner (General) Abu Bakar Siddique presided over the ceremony.
The function was also addressed, among others, by additional police super Mosarrof Hossain, additional district magistrate Kamal Uddin Biswas, deputy director of local government section of DC office Mokhlesur Rahaman, Sadar UNO Ashraful Momin Khan, district information officer Towfiqul Islam and journalist Sarker M Shahiduzzaman.
Speaking on the occasion the DC urged the officials concerned to provide their requisite services to the door steps of the people within short time and in low cost to make the country digitized by 2021 envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Over 4.50 crore people of the country got e-services from the Union Information Service Centres so far, he said adding that many entrepreneurs had also been created in the country who were earning money through outsourcing.
Later, the DIO made a presentation on building digital Bangladesh and its importance during the age of globalization through power point in the function.
The DC also gave answers to the different questions related to e-services and web portal in the district raised by the media men during the press briefing.
A good number of journalists of print and electronic media including national news agency attended the function.
Earlier, a colorful rally led by DC Ehsan-e-Elahi was brought out from the premises of the district collectorate office and ended at the same venue after parading the main roads of the town.
