RAJSHAHI, Oct 7: Bangladesh Sugar Mill Employees and Workers Federation (BSMEWF) has threatened Tuesday to enforce strike in all sugar mills of the country on October 31 to press home their eight point demands including implementation of wage commission.
The federation leaders also announced a month-long programme simultaneously at all 15 sugar mills in the country.
Their demands also include re-fixing the rate of sugar and sugar cane considering the production cost and loan for sugar cane cultivators.
According to the programme, the leaders of BSMEWF will submit memorandum to the Deputy Commissioners' (DC) offices across the country on October 10.
Zahurul Islam Chowdhury, joint-secretary of the federation, disclosed the programme at a press conference held at the union office of sugar mill employees and workers in Rajshahi.
Earlier, about 100 workers of Rajshahi Sugar Mills brought out a procession in front of the mills in support of their demands and set fire to the furniture of their union office.
