Sugar price won't rise in next 90 days: Dilip

Monday, 30 March 2009

Industries Minister Dilip Barua Sunday said the price of sugar would not see further hike in next 90 days and the government would strictly monitor the 'sensitive' issue, reports UNB.
"I can assure you all that price of sugar will be kept stable in the next 90 days and it will be sold across the country following government-fixed price," he said.
Barua said the government would form a monitoring cell within 15 days so that none can create any artificial sugar crisis like that of fertilizer.
The industries minister came up with the government plan while talking to the reporters after a meeting with Bangladesh Sugar Refiners Association (BSRA) at his office in the afternoon.
Replying to a question, Barua said there might be an attempt to create artificial sugar crisis in the market like that of fertilizer but the government is conscious about it.
