Sugar production in RSML begins

GAIBANDHA, Dec 4 (BSS): Production at Rangpur Sugar Mills Limited (RSML) at Mohimaganj under Gobindaganj Upazila in the district began Friday afternoon.
Mills sources said the authorities have taken up a target to produce 4,900 metric tonnes (MTs) of sugar by crushing 70,000 MTs sugarcane during the current crushing season.
The rate of sugar extraction has been estimated at 7 per cent and the crushing may continue for 40-45 days, the sources said.
Advocate Fazley Rabbi Miah, MP, formally inaugurated the crushing at a simple ceremony while Engineer Monowar Hossain Chowdhury, MP, was present as the chief guest.
With managing director of RSML Madan Mohan Saha in the chair, the inaugural ceremony was also addressed, among others, by chief of personnel of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation Masudar Rahman, Police Super Bashudev Banik, UNO Abdul Wahed and grower Zinnat Ali Prodhan.
A large number of people were present on the occasion.
