Sugarcane crushing begins in Rajshahi

Rajshahi Sugar Mill started crushing sugarcanes Friday with a target of producing 11,964 metric tonnes of sugar crushing 165,000 metric tonnes sugarcanes, reports BSS.
Earlier, two sugar mills in Natore district have started formal operation of crushing sugarcanes.
Crushing of sugarcanes in rest 12 sugar mills under the Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) will start this month, said a BSFIC press release.
Rajshahi Divisional Commi-ssioner M Hafizur Rahman Bhuiyan inaugurated the crushing as the chief guest in Rajshahi Sugar Mill.
Chairman of the BSFIC M Mokhles Ur Rahman was present as the special guest at the function. The total target of producing sugar in 15 mills across the country this year has been fixed at 173,100 metric tonnes by crushing 22,72,000 metric tonnes sugarcanes.
