Sugarcane crushing ends at NBSM in Natore

NATORE, Mar 27: North Bengal Sugar Mills Ltd, Gopalpur in Natore district known as NBSM has completed its crushing season on March 22. The NBSM has incurred a loss of about Tk 10 crore by producing sugar in this crushing season. The mill authority has fixed to produce 16,500 metric tons of sugar by crushing 2,20,000 metric tons of sugarcane during the 133 crushing days. But about 15,800 metric tons of sugar was produced by crushing 12,47,194 metric tons of sugarcane during 150 crushing days in the 2010-2011 crushing season. It is learnt that the crushing season started from October 22, 2010, inaugurated by State Minister of Youth and Sports Md. Ahad Ali Sarker MP as chief guest. The NBSM Ltd was established in 1932 under the auspices of Dal Miah during the British period. Reception to FF Another message adds: The Natore district administration accorded a reception to the freedom fighters and the family members of the martyred freedom fighters at Natore sadar upazila parishad auditorium on the Independence Day. About 586 freedom fighters and family members of about 120 martyred freedom fighters of the district were present. On this occasion a discussion meeting was held presided over by Chairman of Natore Sadar Upazila Parishad Alhaj Md Shafiqul Islam Shimul while Deputy Commissioner of Natore Md. Majibor Rahman was present as chief guest. One killed at Singra One person was killed by his brothers at village Kantanagar under Singra Upazila in Natore district on March 26 morning. The deceased was identified as Dulal Pramanik (50), son of Baytullah Pramanik village Kantanagar of the upazila. Officer-in-charge Singra police station A H M Fayzur Rahman recovered the body and sent to Natore Adhunik Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Anjuman Ara Begum wife of deceased filed a case against the three brothers of Dulal with Singra police station on March 26. 3 drug peddlers held The DB police arrested three drug peddlers with half kg hemp from Ahmedpur under Barigram Upazila in Natore district Wednesday afternoon. The arrested persons were identified as Hayatyl Islam (50), Chand Mia (40), of Ahmedpur bus stand under Baraigram Upazila and Abu Hanif (35) of Haibatpur under Natore Sadar Upazila in Natore district. Later, they were produced before court. OMS rice recovered Acting on information headed by Sub-Inspector of Natore police station Jalal Uddin seized a truck with 292 bags of OMS rice from village Karata under Natore Sadar Upazila of Natore district Saturday. Police also recovered 8 bags of OMS rice from the house of OMS dealer Farid uddin of the village and arrested Sakil Hossain son of Farid Uddin. A case has been registered in this connection.
