Sugarcane crushing starts at Badarganj

RANGPUR, Dec 4: Shampur Sugar Mill, Badarganj in Rangpur district started sugarcane crushing Friday for the season of 2010-11.
Local lawmaker Anisul Islam Mandol formally inaugurated the sugarcane crushing as the chief guest. Managing Director of Shampur Sugar Mill Rofiqul islam was present in the chair.
Among others Badargonj Upazila chairman Bishnu Kumar and district Awami league convener Abul Monsur Ahmed were present as special guests.
According to official sources the mill fixed a target of producing 3,500 metric tones of sugar by crushing 45,000 metric tones of sugarcane within 45 days sugar crushing period wherein sugar recovery will be 7.5 per cent.
