Sugarcane crushing starts Oct 24

Sugarcane crushing in 15 state-owned sugar mills will begin on October 24 with a target to produce more than 173,000 (1.73 lakh) tonnes of sugar this fiscal (2008-09).
The first sugarcane crushing programme will be held at the North Bengal Sugar Mills in Natore on October 24. Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Mahbub Jamil will attend the programme, said a PID handout. — UNB
