Sultan Festival ends in Narail

The five-day Sultan Festival in honour of the legendary artist SM Sultan concluded in Narail Wednesday.
The five-day programme was kicked off with a children's painting competition after which a cultural festival and seminar were held.
SM Sultan was one of the most legendary artists of his time and won acclaim both nationally and internationally before passing away in 1994.
His paintings have been shown with artists such as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, George Braque, Paul Klee and many other world famous artists.
The festival, which was held to celebrate his 84th birth anniversary, coincides with his birthday August 10, 2008.
It took place over five days in his home town and birth place Masimdia in Narail.
Director of the Institute of Fine Arts, Dhaka University Abdus Shakur Shah attended the programme.
Former secretary Hasnat Abdul Hye was present as the chief guest.
Also present at the function were Deputy Commissioner of Narail Babul Huq, Banglalink Regional Commercial head Subir Chowdhury and prominent artists in the closing ceremony.
Banglalink has continually supported the arts and their development through various programmes of this type.
