Sumi indicted, granted bail

A juvenile court in the city granted Tuesday bail to domestic help Khadiza Khatun Sumi in connection with the killing of Special Branch Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman, reports UNB.
Judge of the Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court-1 of Dhaka (Juvenile Court) Zakia Parveen granted the bail on a bond of Tk 20,000.
At the same time, the court framed charges against Sumi and fixed June 16 for the trial to begin with the deposition of witnesses.
During the hearing, Sumi's lawyer Syed Nazmul Huda filed a discharge petition to the court.
However, the court indicted the domestic help and granted her bail.  It also asked her lawyer to submit the bail bond to the court on May 26 in the presence of Sumi's parents.
On August 16, 2013, police recovered the bodies of SB Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman from their Chamelibagh residence in the city..
On May 6, a Dhaka court framed charges against Oishee and her two friends in the case.
On the day, the court did not frame any charges against Khadiza as she was under 16.
