Summit Communications gets NTTN license

Wednesday, 23 December 2009

FE Report
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Tuesday issued the second Nationwide Telecommunication Transmission Network (NTTN) license to Summit Communications Limited (SCL).
The telecom watchdog on January 7 this year issued the first NTTN licence to Fiber @ Home Ltd in a bid to minimise hazardous overhead optical fibre usage for various voice and data services.
The license presents Summit Communications with the opportunity to expand upon its mission of strengthening the telecommunications backbone of Bangladesh by contributing in the development of the fibre optic network across the country.
It authorizes Summit Communications to develop, build, own, operate, maintain and provide fiber optic based NTTN services to the ANS (Access Network Service) and Licensed Telecommunication Operators and other authorised users.
The Tk 30 million license fee paid by SCL comes with the obligation of providing 100 per cent NTTN coverage of all the Upazilla Headquarters within 10 years.
