Summit Power approves 20 per cent stock dividend

The 11th Annual General Meeting of Summit Power Limited was held Thursday at Bashundhara Convention Centre, Baridhara in the city.
At the meeting, the shareholders of the company approved 20 per cent stock dividend for the year ended December 31, 2007. More than 6000 shareholders attended the AGM.
The AGM was presided over by director Anjuman Aziz Khan.
Directors Latif Khan, Ayesha Aziz Khan, Syed Fazlul Haque, Mr. Abbas Uddin Ahmed, Tapan Krishna Podder, Mr. Helal Uddin Ahmed, Alternate director Faisal Karim Khan, Managing Director Tauhidul Islam, Financial Controller and Company Secretary Mahmud Hasan and other senior officials of the company also attended.
Summit Power Limited (SPL), a concern of Summit Group, is the first local Independent Power Producer (IPP) in Bangladesh.
To date it is the only local company in the private electricity generation sector to provide electricity to the national grid. SPL was successfully established in 2001, commissioning three power plants at Savar, Comilla and Narsingdi, each with a capacity of 11MW, supplying electricity to the Rural Electrification Board (REB) under Build, Own and Operate basis.
SPL has already expanded its total generation capacity to 105 MW. The power company is also implementing another four power plants with a combined capacity of 110 MW, through its two subsidiary companies, Summit Uttaranchol Power Company Limited (SUPCL) and Summit Purbanchol Power Company Limited (SPPCL).
