Tuesday, 6 May 2014

A local BNP leader in Sunamganj along with his driver is missing since Sunday night, his family members said. His relative filed a general diary at the Sadar Police Station on Tuesday morning, Sunamganj Superintendent of Police Harunur Rashid said. Haji Mujibur Rahman, convener of BNP’s district chapter and his driver Rezaul Haque Sohel were heading for Sylhet from Sunamganj on Sunday afternoon. They have remained untraced since then and their cell phones are also switched off. Rahman, who lives in London with his family, returned home alone a year ago. "We looked for him in the places where our relatives live. We filed the general diary after we failed to find him,” said Rabiul Islam, a relative of Rahman. Missing driver Sohel’s father Md Wahiuduzzaman said cell phones of his son and Rahman have been switched off since Sunday afternoon. BNP’s Sunamganj district chapter held a news conference on Tuesday and demanded that Rahman be found and brought back safely. It said they will organise a human chain on Wednesday at traffic points in the city to protest the disappearance, according to bdnews24.com.
