Supreme Court stays Pintu's bail

Wednesday, 5 May 2010

The Supreme Court (SC) Tuesday stayed Monday's High Court verdict that had granted regular bail to detained former BNP lawmaker Nasiruddin Pintu, an accused in the BDR carnage case, reports UNB.
SC chamber judge M Muzammel Hossain passed the interim order asking the government to file a regular application for leave to appeal against the impugned High Court verdict within 10 days.
A total of 74 people, including 57 army officers who were in the commanding positions in the border force, one army sepoy, two family members of army officers, eight BDR jawans and seven civilians were killed during the February 25-26 massacre last year inside the Pilkhana BDR headquarters.
