Suranjit for code of conduct for ministers

Saturday, 4 October 2014

Senior Awami League leader Suranjit Sengupta Saturday called upon the government to enact a code of conduct for cabinet members so that it does not have to face any embarrassing situation because of any minister’s unwarranted remarks and behaviour.
“Ministers sometimes make uncalled-for remarks that embarrass the nation, including the government and the Prime Minister. We need to think of enacting a code of conduct for ministers to avoid any such unwarranted situation,” he said, according to a news agency.
The Awami League leader was addressing a discussion, organised by Nouka Samarthak Ghosti at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU).
Suranjit said, “Every institution is regulated with its own rules. There’s a code of conduct for judges. A minister, who represents the nation, should act keeping in mind its social and political impact as he or she holds a very important position.”
