Advisory Council member of Awami League (AL) Suranjit Sen Gupta Monday urged the main opposition BNP to join Parliament, if they have any specific proposal on any issue.
The AL leader said this at a discussion on 'There is no alternative to discussion to reach consensus for a free and fair election' organised by Janatar Pratyasha at Photo-Journalists' Association auditorium in the city Monday, reports BSS.
"The countrymen had cast their votes in favour of BNP lawmakers to speak in Parliament. You should respect people's mandate," he said.
Among others, AL Organising Secretary Ahmed Hossain, Organi-sing Secretary of its Dhaka city unit Shahe Alam Murad and Assistant Attorney General Nurjahan Begum Mukta addressed the discussion.
Suranjit said it is not possible to solve any problem without discussion. BNP is destroying democracy and themselves by taking the party outside of parliament, he said.
BNP lawmakers should join parliament and raise their voice in the greater interest of democracy, he added.
