Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj has invited Opposition Leader Raushon Ershad to visit Delhi, reports bdnews24.com.
Issues like power, border, Teesta water-sharing dominated the hour-long meeting between them at the Opposition Leader's office in Parliament starting just before Friday noon.
"She (Swaraj) invited me to visit India," Ershad, who rarely speaks to the media, told reporters after the meeting.
Ershad's Jatiya Party (JP) emerged as the second biggest party in the Jan 5 polls boycotted by the BNP and its allies.
"We mainly discussed power, border and Teesta water-sharing issues," said the JP presidium members.
"She told me that India was interested to invest in Bangladesh's power sector."
Power-starved Bangladesh is already importing 500 megawatt of electricity from India. Another 100MW is expected to be added from Tripura by the end of this year.
Bangladesh has turned to both nuclear and coal-fired power plants to meet the rising demand.
Jointly with India, Bangladesh is implementing a 1,320MW thermal plant at Rampal near the Sundarbans.
The Opposition Leader said Swaraj had assured her that other unsolved bilateral issues would be solved through discussions.
Swaraj left Dhaka on Friday after her three-day visit, the first since taking charge of the external affairs ministry last month.
