Suspected drug trader injured in \\\'shootout\\\'

A suspected drug trader has been injured in a ‘shootout’ with police in Khetlal upazila in Joypurhat. Police identified the injured as Abdul Hannan, 35, son of Azim uddin of Ikargara village. Officer in charge (OC) of Khetlal Police Station Monirul Islam said being tipped off a police team arrested suspected drug dealer Abdul Hannan from Ikargara. Following his confessional statement, police went to Ikargara along with him to arrest the other drug peddlers. Sensing the presence of police, Abdul Hannan’s associates opened fire on the law enforcers. In retaliation police also opened fire on them and Abdul Hannan was injured by a bullet in the line of fire. Police recovered five bottles of phensidyl and locally made weapons from the spot. Injured Hannan was whisked off to a local hospital, according to a news agency.
