Suspected extremist held in Patuakhali

PATUAKHALI, Dec 2 (bdnews24.com): Members of Rapid Action Battalion have detained a suspected member of the outlawed extremist outfit Allahr Dal from Jalisha village in Dumki Upazila.
Rab officials also recovered four hand grenades and two Chinese axes when they arrested Mohammad Zahir Hawlader (35) around 11pm Wednesday. He hails from Bhorpasha village of Barisal's Bakerganj Upazila.
Rab-8 Patuakhali commander Maj Shamsher Uddin told journalists, "He has been arrested in a special drive conducted based on a tip-off. Zahir has long been supplying weapons and explosives to various parts of southern Bangladesh on behalf of Allahr Dal. They had planned to explode bombs at various points in the region during the recent Durga Puja, but their plan was foiled by intelligence officials."
