PABNA, Apr 25 (bdnews24.com): A leader of the outlawed extremist outfit Purbo Bangla Communist Party (ML-red flag) was killed in the district, possibly by a rival group, the police said Saturday.
The dead man was identified by police as 'Alam', son of Khorshed Ali of Shibpur village in Atghoria Upazila.
Some 10-12 unidentified men took Alam from his home Friday evening, stabbed him and left him dead, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Atghoria police station Sirajul Islam told the news agency.
"The assailants may have been members of a rival extremist group," said the police officer.
Alam was taken to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition where he died in the night, said Islam.
A case was filed with the Atghoria police station. Nobody had been arrested until Saturday morning, said Islam.
