Suspected JCD men blast 4 cocktails in city

Suspected pro-hartal elements exploded four crude bombs in Segunbagicha area in Dhaka on Monday. Witnesses said agroup of 10-12 youths brought out a brisk procession in BIRDEM lane in Segunbagicha near Shilpakala Academy and blasted four cocktails at 10:30am. However, no injuries were reported in the blasts. Police said activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) the student wing of the BNP, tried to take out a procession from BRIDEM Lane and blasted four crudebombs. The law-enforcers could not arrest any of the picketers. But, additional police were deployed in the area to avert any subversive act. The BNP-led 20 party alliance called a nationwide dawn to dusk shutdown for Monday protesting the restrictions on Gazipur rally where BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was scheduled to address and arrest of BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Jubo Dal president Moazzem Hossain Alal. The hartal began at 6am today and will end at 6pm, according to a news agency.
