Suspended police officers to be reinstated

Some stations resume operation

FE REPORT | Saturday, 10 August 2024

The Bangladesh Police has decided to reinstate a bunch of officers who were earlier suspended from their jobs for administrative reasons.
The order for their suspension has been withdrawn.
The latest decision to this end was made in an order issued by the Police Headquarters on Friday.
According to the order, all units of the police are instructed to withdraw suspension orders (from constables upwards) that were imposed for administrative reasons.
The directive has been sent to all police units for immediate implementation.
Meanwhile, after a three-day hiatus, 29 police stations under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) resumed operations the same day.
Police officers stayed off duties following their violent clashes with protesters ahead of Sheikh Hasina's resignation as premier on August 05.
Despite massive damage in some areas, police operations have restarted at stations that were either unaffected or only lightly damaged during the recent unrest.
However, 21 police stations in Dhaka still remain closed due to extensive damage, with their facilities rendered unusable.
Services have resumed at stations like Ramna, Kalabagan, Dhanmondi, Hazaribagh, Kotwali, Chawkbazar, Sutrapur, Demra, Gendaria, Motijheel, Sabujbagh, Shajahanpur, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Hatirjheel, Shah Ali, Kafrul, Bhasantek, Darussalam, Rupnagar, Cantonment, Banani, Uttara West, Uttar Khan and Airport.
