SYLHET, Sept 01: The agitating teachers took out Tuesday a silent procession at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) protesting the attack of BCL men on their colleagues.
They wore black badges and held a rally in front of the main gate of the university's administrative building-II and demanded immediate resignation of vice-chancellor Prof Md Aminul Haque Bhuiyan for his 'misdeeds'.
Prof Hasanuzzaman Shyamol and Prof Mostabur Rahman, among others, spoke on the occasion.
At the rally, they announced fresh agitation programme including three-hour work abstention from 9:00 am on Wednesday and 4-hour token hunger strike from 9:00 am on Thursday
Convener of the agitating teachers' forum Prof Syed Shamsul Alam alleged that the VC had formed a probe committee with those teachers who were with him on Sunday when the incident took place.  He also said their agitation programme won't hamper the admission tests.
SUST Teachers Association President Prof Kabir Hossain in a statement condemned Sunday's attack on the teachers and demanded exemplary punishment to the attackers.
Meanwhile, the SUST authority has suspended four students for their involvement in the attack on teachers.
They are Ariful Islam, Dhaniram Raj, Zahid Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun.
