Sustainable Development Conference held in Bangkok

Friday, 18 July 2025

The 11th Sustainable Development Conference (SDC2025) was held in Bangkok, convening a distinguished assembly of international leaders, policymakers, academics, and sustainability experts.
Organised by the Tomorrow People Organization, this three-day global event has attracted participants from over 25 countries, all committed to tackling pressing global issues and advancing innovative solutions for sustainable development, says a press statement.
The event, which ran from July 15 to 17, featured an array of sessions -- including keynote addresses from renowned experts, interactive workshops, and panel debates -- designed to bridge the gap between theoretical frameworks and practical implementation.
Major themes included sustainable economic growth, environmental conservation, social inclusion, and renewable energy transition.
From Bangladesh, Dr. Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, Managing Director and CEO of NRBC Bank PLC, presented his pioneering PhD research on 'Integrated Credit and Sustainability Risk Rating Model'.
This groundbreaking approach offers financial institutions a comprehensive framework to assess both financial and socio-environmental risks, aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), marking a significant step forward in promoting sustainable banking practices in developing economies.
Recognised as Bangladesh's first Certified Sustainability Reporting Assurer (CSRA), Dr. Khan's expertise has garnered international recognition. His appointment as a member of the conference's Scientific Committee underscores his growing influence in integrating sustainability principles within the banking and finance sectors globally.
