Swaraj visit to resolve disputes: Mirza Alamgir

Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj’s three-day Dhaka visit will play a crucial role in addressing border and water sharing issues between the two countries, BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Wednesday. The BNP welcomes Sushma Swaraj’s visit, the BNP spokesperson said before heading for Feni in the afternoon. ‘Sushma Swaraj is a seasoned politician. We welcome her visit,’ Mirza Alamgir said at BNP headquarters in the city’s Naya Paltan. ‘The people of Bangladesh hope the two countries will move towards solving bilateral issues following Swaraj’s visit,’ Mirza Alamgir added. During her visit June 26-28 visit, Swaraj will meet President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, besides holding talks with the foreign minister, according to a news agency.
