Swarm of bees causes a buzz

Saturday, 29 June 2019

There was a bizarre moment in Sri Lanka's Cricket World Cup contest against South Africa on Friday as the players and umpires took special measures to avoid a troublesome swarm of bees, reports https://www.standard.co.uk.
Sri Lanka were nearing the end of their disappointing innings at the Emirates Riverside in Chester-le-Street, Durham when the flying insects descended.
Their arrival caused the players and umpires to lie flat, face-first on the ground, sparking bizarre scenes and leading to some memorable pictures that will no doubt go viral.
Chris Morris, who was about to bowl the final ball of the 48th over to Isuru Udana, even took to performing a few press-ups as the bees made a nuisance of themselves.
Play quickly resumed after a couple of minutes, with Sri Lanka eventually being bowled out for 203 with three balls to spare. It is not the first time that bees have caused a cricket meeting between Sri Lanka and South Africa to be delayed.
