Swechchhasebak Dal chief Sohel lands in jail

Two courts here on Sunday sent Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal president Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel to jail rejecting his bail petitions in 11 cases. Metropolitan Magistrates Mohammad Anwar Sadat and Rezaul Karim passed the orders when Sohel surrendered before their courts on completion of High Court bail granted to him. Meanwhile, the Swechchhasebak Dal leader was granted bail in two other cases filed with Shahbagh and Paltan police stations. Police filed the 13 cases against Sohel — four with Motijheel and Paltan each, three with Shahbagh and two others with Ramna Police Station. Of the cases, 10 were filed in connection with May 5 Hefajat violence while three others for bomb blasts, arson attacks and obstructing police from performing their duties, according to a news agency.
