Swechchhasebak League leader gunned down

A local leader of Swechchhasebak League was shot dead by miscreants at Ramganj upazila in Lakshmipur district on Wednesday night. The dead is Nur Hossain, organising secretary of Karpara union unit of the ruling Awami League’s voluntary wing and son of Kalu Mia of Madhya Karpara village. Police, quoting locals, said a gang of miscreants opened fire at Nur Hossain in front of his house at Madhya Karpara around 11:00pm, leaving him critically injured. Nur Hossain was rushed to Ramganj upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead. Lokman Hossain, officer-in-charge of Ramganj Police Station, confirming the incident said political enmity might have been the reason behind the murder, according to UNB.
