Swechchhasebak League leader slain

A local leader of Awami Shwechchhasebak League, a front organisation of the ruling party, was chopped to death by unidentified assailants at Kachua village at Lalpur Upazila of Natore district on Thursday. The dead is Ashraf Ali, 40. He was the son of Boyez Ali of Bilsolia village. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalpur Police Station Abdul Hai, quoting locals, said a gang of unknown miscreants hacked him to death. He said, following information from locals, police recovered the body from a sugarcane field and sent it to Natore Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Lalpur Upazila Awami League Secretary Eshak Ali said Ashraf might have been killed by political rivals, according to a news agency.
