Switzerland to provide $1.0m for PERP project

Switzerland will provide US$ 1.0 million for the 'Preparation of Electoral Roll with Photographs' (PERP) project to be implemented by the Bangladesh Election Commission, reports UNB.
The contribution will be channelled through a pooled funding mechanism coordinated by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
In this connection, UNDP Resident Representative Renata Lok Dessalien and Ambassador of Switzerland Dora Rapold signed an agreement in the city Thursday.
Switzerland is assisting the Election Commission to prepare a comprehensive and accurate voter list with photographs in order to facilitate preparations for fair and credible elections, said Swiss Ambassador on the occasion.
"We are extremely pleased to be able to join other development partners in supporting this important initiative", she said.
