Syeduzzaman honoured with PKSF award

M Syeduzzaman, a former finance minister, has received the life-time achievement award from the state-run Palli Karma-Shahayak Foundation (PKSF) for his outstanding contribution to the country's socio-economic development.
The apex funding body for microfinanciers handed over Tuesday the award to him at the launch of a development fair in the city recently. It conferred such a life-time award for the second time in its history. Begum Tahrunnesa Abdullah, a member of the PKSF governing body, was the first to receive this award.
In its statement, PKSF said, "We are honoured to award M Syeduzzaman who has contributed to the socio-economic development of Bangladesh while working for public and private authorities in his entire life time."
Mr Syeduzzaman, a development specialist, served as the first chairman of PKSF from 1990 to 1993. He joined Pakistan Civil Service in 1956 after completion of his MSc in Physics from the University of Dhaka and also obtained Masters degree in Development Economics from the US.
