Sylhet customs earns Tk 1,267.5m revenue

Sylhet customs earned revenue amounting to Tk 1,267.5 million (126.75 crore) exceeding the target of Tk 1,220 million in the 2006-07 fiscal through its 11 customs stations, reports UNB.
On the other hand, about Tk 250 million more had been earned in the 2005-06 fiscal against the target of Tk 1010.2 million.
Official sources said, Borochhara customs station of Sunamganj district earned the highest revenue, amounting to Tk 303.3 million.
At present there are 11 customs stations in the region. These are Tamabil, Borochara, Charagao, Bagli, Sheola, Zakiganj, Chhatak, Juri, Chatlapur, Shayestaganj and Bholaganj.
Coal, stone and limestone are mainly imported through these customs stations.
Five other customs stations of the division remained closed from July 1 along with 141 other customs stations of the country.
