Sylhet medical college closed for 6 days

Osmani Medical College in Sylhet city has been closed for 6 days after a student was stabbed to death in a dormitory. The decision was made at the academic council meeting on Thursday, Principal Morshed Ahmed Chowdhury said. The college will remain closed for 6 days starting from Saturday, he said. The authorities formed a 5-member committee to probe the killing, the principal said. The body headed by Prof AKM Mosharraf Hossain has been asked to submit its findings in 7 days. Assailants stabbed Tauhidul Islam, an activist of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and resident of Abu Sina Hall, on Wednesday. He died later. Activists of Chhatra Dal, student wing of BNP, called strike for an indefinite time since Thursday morning demanding arrest of the killers. BNP’s Sylhet district unit called a half-day shutdown on Sunday in the city, according to bdnews24.com.
