Sylhet transport workers put off strike

Hours after enforcing an indefinite transport strike in the district demanding the arrest of the killers of a driver and attackers of another, they postponed their strike on Saturday until April 15. The decision came after a fruitful meeting between Sylhet City Corporation mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury and transport leaders and workers in the city corporation office in the afternoon. The transport owners and workers association postponed the strike considering the sufferings of HSC examinees, said mayor Ariful Haque. Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik Oikya Parishad had announced the action programme from an emergency meeting on Friday, according to a news agency.
