Syngenta to build capacity of small farmers

Syngenta Foundation Bangladesh (SFB) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Quasem Food Products Limited to help build capacity of small and marginal farmers. Chairman of Syngenta Foundation Bangladesh Sazzadul Hassan and Chief Operating Officer, Quasem Food Products Mahbubul Alam signed the MoU on behalf of their organisations, reports BSS.
The agreement enables Quasem Food to establish linkages and buy high-quality potatoes for chips from the smallholders, who can, therefore, earn better incomes. Under the agreement, both parties will undertake activities to build the capacity of small and marginal farmers of northwest Bangladesh in producing quality potatoes for processing purpose through contract farming system.
