Syngenta to share expertise with Shakti

Shakti Foundation, a leading micro-credit organisation, and Syngenta Bangladesh Limited signed a memorandum of understanding Monday for training of disadvantaged women. Nazmul Ahsan, director of Shakti Agro Development Programme, and Sarwar Ahmed, managing director of Syngenta Bangladesh Limited, signed the MOU on behalf of their respective organisations at a ceremony in the city. Under the terms of the MoU, Syngenta Bangladesh Limited will transfer agri-knowledge through training to Shakti associates, and provide agri-inputs for their beneficiary farmers, says a statement. Shakti Foundation has designed a new programme Shakti Agro Development in a bid to further advance agricultural development of the country. The objective of the Agro Development Programme is to provide short-term finance to farmers for crop cultivation. The organisation is working with 28 branches in 11 districts. It also provides technical training on modern agricultural methods and agricultural inputs. - Statement
