Syria and Lebanon formalise ties

The Syrian and Lebanese foreign ministers have signed a joint document formalising diplomatic ties between the two countries, Syrian state media reported, according to Internet.
The signing Wednesday comes a day after Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian president, issued a decree which paved the way for full diplomatic ties with its neighbour.
"Walid al-Moualem, the Syrian foreign minister, and Fawzi Salloukh, the Lebanese foreign minister, signed a joint statement announcing the launch of diplomatic relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Lebanese republic effective today, October 15, 2008," according to SANA news agency.
