T-Aman paddy harvest begins in Tangail

TANGAIL, Nov 10:  The harvesting of transplanted Aman paddy begins in the 12 upazilas of the district. According to sources, harvesting of the paddy have begun from the last week and till today 20 per cent of paddy has already been harvested.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Tangail informed that this year the target of T-Aman cultivation is on a total of 100966 hectares of land in the district with the production target of 248761 metric tonnes of paddy.
According to DAE, Tangail, favourable climatic condition, proper distribution of high quality seeds and timely supply of fertiliser and other agricultural inputs to the grower are the reasons behind the bumper production of the paddy in the current season.
Besides different bank and NGOs, especially Bangladesh Krishi Bank disbursed agri-loans on easy terms to the poor and marginal farmers of the district to help them cultivate T-Aman paddy.
