Tablig Jamaat leader slain in Sylhet

SYLHET, May 18 (UNB): Police recovered the slaughtered body of a local leader of Tablig Jamaat from his house in Chardighipar area of the city on Monday morning.
The victim was identified as Ibrahim Abu Khalil(55), son of Sad Uddin Al Habib, an ameer of local unit Tablig Jamaat.
Sajid Uddin, the deceased's son, said they found the body lying in a pool of blood on the floor in a room in the morning.
Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station Sohel Ahmad said Ibrahim might have been killed by miscreants some time on Sunday night.
A case was filed in this connection.
The family informed the police that the laptop and gold jewellery were missing from the room.
Police detained Khalil's first wife and son for interrogation.
“The hands and feet of the body were tied up, his face was covered with pillow," said police.
Police official Rahmat Ullah said investigation was launched to identify the killer and the motive behind the murder.
