TAIPEI, June 21 (Xinhua): Taiwan's outbound sales orders totalled US$38.02 billion in May, up 4.7 per cent year on year, according to the island's statistics.
From January to May, the outbound sales orders saw an annual increase of 4.4 per cent, reaching $181.64 billion, a record high.
Lin Lee-jen, a statistic authority official, said the fast growth was due to sales of electronic products and portable devices. Electronic products totalled $9.52 billion, a 12.6 per cent year-on-year rise.
Lin said June's outbound sales orders are expected to exceed 5.0 per cent because of the recovering global economy.
She predicted that such orders will continue to grow in the latter half of the year
