Tajuddin Ahmad Trust Fund has been set up at Dhaka University (DU) in memory of the country's first Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmad. In this connection, his daughter Sharmin Ahmad Sunday handed over a cheque for Tk 1.0 million to the DU Treasurer Prof Mizanur Rahman at a function held at the Vice-chancellor's residence to establish the fund. Under the fund, a student, who will secure highest position at Honour's examination from the Department of Peace and Conflict Study of the university will be awarded with a gold medal and a scholarship of Tk 1000 per month for one year. A monthly stipend of Tk 1,000 will also be given to a financially insolvent female student of the same department from first year. Moreover, marking the birth day of late Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmad, the DU will arrange an annual memorial lecture and essay competition out of the fund. DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Acting Registrar Prof Syed Rezaur Rahman, Chairman of the Peace and Conflict Study Department Prof Rafiqul Islam were present on the occasion.
