Family members of former Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmed received the unexpected death news of Tajuddin Ahmed along with three other national leaders 36 hours after their brutal assassination inside Dhaka Central jail. ‘Soon after the assassination of my father in the jail on November 3 in 1975, a clash took place between police members and the people over his Namaj-e-Janaza and burial and many of them were detained temporarily,’ Simin Hossain Rimi, second daughter of Tajuddin Ahmed, said today (Nov 3) while recalling those dark days. She said that later some Army personnel took away and buried the body in city’s Banani Graveyard forcibly. The four national leaders – Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, M Mansur Ali and AHM Qamaruzzaman – were brutally killed on Nov 3, 1975, inside the central jail. ‘During a close moment with my father inside the central jail in the last week of October 1975, he (Tajuddin) told me that he had dreamt of Bangabandhu and said we would no more be kept alive,’ said Rimi, a ruling party lawmaker from Gazipur district. ‘I dreamt of Mujib Bhai who told me after hugging: ‘Come (to me) because we know each other since 1944. . . . we worked together and now without you, I don’t feel good,’ she said quoting Tajuddin, according to a news agency.
