Take measures against adulterated pesticides

Wednesday, 15 November 2023

Insecticides are mostly imported from abroad. Those materials come in big containers and are commercially re-packed in the country. During this process, some of these pesticides are adulterated with sub-standard materials so that a section of businessmen can increase their volume of profit unethically. This ultimately deteriorates the quality. These pesticides are mostly needed for crop protection against insects and crop diseases. Those increase the yield and profit of farmers. However, adulterated pesticides can no way help our farmers gain their desired crop production.
We know that adulteration is in vogue in our country. But any dishonest way of adulterating food or crop by businessmen should not be tolerated. There are laws in the country to curb adulteration. However, their implementation is still a far cry. If poor quality or adulterated pesticides are provided to farmers, they lose a major part of their yield. So, we request the authorities concerned to investigate into this issue and enforce laws against the perpetrators with an iron hand.
