Tuesday, 10 May 2011

Senior Awami League (AL) leader and former home minister Mohammad Nasim Monday called upon the Opposition to talk about the constitutional amendment by joining the Jatiya Sangsad (JS), reports BSS. "There are scopes for expressing opinions by the Opposition about the constitutional amendment in parliament if they have anything to say about this," he told a discussion at Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) in the city. Awami Ulama League arranged the discussion on the occasion of the second death anniversary of eminent nuclear scientist Dr M A Wazed Mian. About BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's demand of resignation of the government, Nasim said, "The government has not failed, rather you have failed to make constructive criticism and also perform responsibilities as the leader of the opposition in parliament." Nasim said the present government has been working relentlessly for holding trial of war criminals and solving the gas, water, electricity and traffic problems. Refuting BNP allegation that the country is witnessing crisis, he said the country and the AL are not in crisis. It is BNP-Jama'at and its allies who are facing crisis. Nasim said midterm election would not be given as per the demand of BNP. "Such a situation has not been created in the country that midterm election will have to be given," he said. He called upon the government to take initiatives to restore confidence of the investors in the stock market.
