Tangail farmers poised for a bumper Boro production

TANGAIL, Apr 29: Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and farmers of the district are expecting a bumper production of Boro paddy in the 12 upazilas of the district this season.
A total of 165929 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation here with a production target of 641210 metric tonnes of paddy.
Deputy director of DAE Tangail Azizullah told FE, DAE has taken necessary measures to provide the farmers with high yielding variety of seeds, fertiliser, insecticides and other agri inputs for a bumper production.
On the other hand government and other private commercial banks have been providing loans among the farmers in the district.
Md. Fazlur Rahman (40), a farmer of village Mahmudpur under Delduar Upazila said "I have cultivated Boro paddy on 7 acres of my land and I am expecting a bumper production if weather condition remains favourable during next couple of months."
