A marathon meeting between traders and tanners over price of raw hide of sacrificial animals concluded Wednesday without any result as tanners sought three more days before reaching any settlement to end days of row over the rate.
The two-hour-long meeting was held at the headquarters of Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA) where both the groups heavily argued over the price of the key exportable product.
"We took time for closely monitoring the international market price before sitting with our members again regarding the issue," BTA Chairman Shaheen Ahmed said, informing that the next meeting will be held Sunday where the matter might be resolved.
The global price for per square foot leather is now varying between $ 1.35 and $ 1.40 on an average.
He said, in the meeting, they urged the traders not to mix the raw hides collected from outside the capital with those collected from Dhaka as the traders paid different prices for respective cases.
