Tapan Chowdhury elected BTMA president

Tapan Chowdhury has been elected president uncontested of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) for the 2015-2016 session, while Fazlul Hoque and Showkat Aziz Russell have been elected vice presidents uncontested of the association.
They were elected in the 31st annual general meeting of the association at BTMA Research and Training Institute on Saturday, said a statement.
Outgoing president of BTMA Jahangir Alamin presided over the AGM.
Tapan Chowdhury is also the sponsor director of thirty different business establishments of the Square Group. Bangladesh government has conferred him the honourary recognition of CIP (Commercially Important Person) since 2005 and VIP (Very Important Person) honour since 2007. He also took the office of Adviser of ministries of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Youth and Sports, Food and Disaster Management and Science and Technology under the regime of caretaker run government.
He is a descendant of late Samson H Chowdhury, founder chairman of Square Group.
Besides, Fazlul Hoque is the managing director of Ishraq Spinning Mill and Ahmed Group and Showkat Aziz Russell is the chairman of Amber group and managing director and share holding director of Partex Group.
