Target of monthly revenue earning from Teknaf land port not achieved

CHITTAGONG, Oct 02: The target of monthly revenue collection from Teknaf Land Port (TLP) was not achieved in September last, sources said.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) set a monthly revenue target amounting to over Tk 80 million (8 crore) earlier in September, while the revenue collected was around Tk 67 million.
Also, the target of the monthly revenue for the first three months during 2007-2008 fiscal was not fulfilled. The number of bill entries was 259 in September.
On the other hand, annual budget target in the 2006-2007 fiscal was around Tk 882 million, while the extent of realisation was Tk 879 million.
Controversy on chaos and violent activities in Myanmar are reported to be the main grounds of the declining trend in realisation of revenue, concerned sources added.
