Target set to cultivate corns in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Jan 19: Cultivation of corns like gram, green gram, pea, lentil and so on is going on in Nilphamari district although these are not so extensively cultivated. Only some particular farmers cultivate these corns sporadically across the upazilas.
DAE sources said this year's target of cultivating corns are lentil in 23 hectares of land to produce 29 metric tonnes at an average production of 1.20 metric tonnes per hectare, gram in 10 hectare to produce 10 metric tonnes, green gram in 15 hectares, 15 metric tonnes, kheshari dal in 14 hectares to produce 14 metric tonnes, pea in 7 hectares to produce 07 metric tonnes, pigeon pea in 10 hectares to produce 10 metric tonnes.
While contacted one official of DAE said block supervisors posted in every union perished has been instructed to motivate the farmers to increase the cultivation of these corns.
