BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has condemned the recent Israeli plans to expand settlements in the occupied West Bank, describing the move as both heartbreaking and a major obstacle to establishment of a future Palestinian state, reports BSS.

In the Facebook post, Tarique Rahman asserted that Bangladeshis worldwide have consistently shown solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle against violent colonial oppression.
He described the continued apartheid and attack on the people of Palestine, their culture, their land, their history by Benjamin Netanyahu as no less than genocide and planned ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, calling the situation 'abhorrent.'
Tarique Rahman also expressed deep concern over the safety and security of the Bangladeshis who live and work in the Middle East and Gulf region, stating that the current Israeli government's actions are pushing the entire region towards an abyss. He concluded his statement with a strong appeal to the international community, urging them to condemn and put pressure on the Israeli government over their settlement plans.
